Climate change and society

Hellow everyone, today I will talk about climate change and society.

While climate change is a natural phenomenon, human beings are the main culprits in driving it to a dramatic level, affecting our planet and all the organisms that live on it.

For many years humans have promoted industrial development by abusing the use of fossil fuels, this generates a large emission of gases, specifically carbon dioxide (CO2), this gas is the main cause of the greenhouse effect.

The greenhouse effect is a process in which the gases emitted in the earth are retained in the atmosphere, allowing the passage of solar radiation, but not the exit of the radiation that emits and reflects the earth, ie the heat enters, but does not leave. This produces an increase in the Earth's temperatures, affecting animals, plants and living organisms that have to try to adapt to the heat waves that are produced by this effect. Not only does it affect the organisms directly, but also their habitats, since an increase in temperature means a general change in the environment, for example, the poles begin to melt increasing the water level and affecting the fauna of those areas, the properties of the water also change, affecting the flora and fauna of the oceans, drought begins to increase in semi-arid areas and many other examples of the damage caused by temperature in the environments.

Global warming is, in my opinion, the biggest problem the world has right now, but a large part of society does not pay as much attention to it as it should, especially the people with the most power and they own the industries that are largely to blame for all this. For that reason we must start the change by ourselves, share our knowledge with the greatest number of people to create awareness.

Some changes we can make in our daily lives can help in the fight against climate change, changes big or small, all add up to generate awareness and reverse the damage we have done to the ecosystem. One of the changes you can make is to recycle. People produce a lot of garbage a year, which pollutes a lot, so giving a new use to things you no longer use is a very good way to start making changes, it can be plastic, cardboard, clothing, aluminum and many other materials. You can also lower your consumption of fossil fuels by trying not to use cars or vehicles that use gasoline and replacing them with bicycles, skates, walking, etc.

One of the best changes you can make to help is to change your diet. As I said before CO2 is the main greenhouse gas, but it is not the only one, there is also butane gas (CH4) and it is the second most important gas contributing to the greenhouse effect. This gas is produced mainly by cattle, that is, cows. If you reduce your meat consumption you are helping to lower CH4 emissions, and not only that, the meat industry spends millions of liters of water to produce meat. So if you want to contribute in the fight against climate change, you can try to make these changes in your life, the planet will thank you.

Thanks for reading.
